The Calgary Flames have given former Colorado Avalanche defenseman Ryan Wilson a professional tryout contract (PTO) to come to camp and vie for a spot on the Flames roster, the team announced on Thursday.
The 28-year-old defenseman missed all but three games last season due to injury.
He’s a veteran of 230 NHL games with seven goals and 60 assists.
Wilson will be competing for a spot on a Flames blue line that had some depth issues last year and statistical concerns about their ability to repeat their success from last year. However, they made a huge addition by acquiring Bruins defenseman Dougie Hamilton and getting Mark Giordano inked to a big extension.
