Florida drafted the Swiss forward with the 102nd overall pick in the fourth-round of the 2015 NHL Draft. The 19-year-old forward played with the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League in 2015-16, logging five goals and 17 points in 38 games. He was teammates with 2016 first-overall draft pick Auston Matthews and a member of the 2016 Swiss Cup championship team with ZSC.
He has been a member of Switzerland’s U20 World Junior Championship team each of the past two seasons. He finished with seven points in six tournament games in 2015 and nine points in six games in 2016. He also captained the 2015 Swiss U18 WJC team.

Malgin is an undersized forward, standing at 5-foot-9 and 176 pounds, but his lack of size has been made up for with his good offensive instincts and playmaking abilities. He’s a feisty player with good offensive upside and skating ability. The Olten, Switzerland native can also stand his ground well in the corners and in front of the net.
Denis Malgin is a good powerplay forward with solid half-wall skills. His quick feet make him tough to keep track of in the offensive zone.
Malgin will likely play with Florida’s AHL affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts during the 2016-17 campaign.
