Atlanta Thrashers 3 New York Rangers 0

The Rangers are watching their playoff hopes slip away as they once again came out of a game without a point and no longer have control if they make the playoffs.

It took until 7:42 of the second period before the first goal was scored. Thrasher’s Rob Schremp put a wrist shot past Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist to break the scoreless score of the game. For good measure 15 seconds later Andrew Ladd made it 2-0 for the Thrashers with a backhanded shot.

The Thrashers kept control of the game into the third and saw Eric Boulton score his sixth of the season after tipping in a Johnny Oduya shot to make it 3-0 over the Rangers.

Montreal Canadiens 2 Ottawa Senators 3 (OT)

It was the last home game of the season for the Senators and they went out with an overtime win over the Canadiens.

Montreal took the lead with a goal just over halfway though the game with a goal from Brian Gionta.

The third started with a Jason Spezza goal to tie the game less than a minute into play. Late in the third Bobby Butler scored his ninth of the season to give Ottawa the lead with less than three minutes remaining in regulation.

With 11 seconds to go before the final buzzer Michael Cammalleri tied the game at two for the Canadiens.

It was Filip Kuba just over a minute into overtime with his second of the season that won it for the Senators.

Colorado Avalanche 2 Dallas Stars 4

The Rangers may be slowly dying in the East but the Stars are alive and well in the West with two more points as they defeated the Avalanche.

Dallas Stars Tom Wandell scored his 7th of the season with a warp-around goal. About a minute and a half later Loui Eriksson put a slap shot past Avalanche’s Brian Elliot to make it a 2-0 lead after twenty minutes of play.

Halfway though the second it was Colorado’s Brandon Yip with a wrist shot past Kari Lehtonen to cut the Stars lead in half.

Just 44 seconds into the third Ryan O’Bryne of Colorado took a delay of game penalty that would set Dallas’ Brenden Morrow up for a power play goal for the 3-1 lead.

Mark Oliver would get his second of the season with the Avalanche’s second goal of the game. It would be Brad Richards whom would score just over a minute later to give the Stars the two goal lead once again over the Avalanche.

Minnesota Wild 0 Vancouver Canucks 5

The Cancucks set the tone of the game with a goal from Mason Raymond nearing the halfway point in the first and then a late first period penalty to Wild’s Kyle Brodziak set Ryan Kesler up for his 38th of the season on the power play with less than 30 seconds remaining in the period.

Kesler would score again in the second putting a wrist shot back Niklas Backstrom just minutes before Raymond would do the same – again.

Heading into the third with 40 minutes played both Raymond and Kesler had scored twice on Backstrom with wrist shots. So when Kesler put in his third wrist shot of the game just minutes into the third the hats came raining down.
