Game of Numbers: Ottawa Senators Edition

The Game of Numbers is an exclusive THW series looking at upcoming milestones around the NHL. Each team will be looked at individually in three parts – individual player milestones, franchise player milestones, and players that rank in the top 100 in NHL history in any big statistical category.

Over the years, the Ottawa Senators have become an interesting club. Developing guys like Daniel Alfredsson and Jason Spezza only to resort to a younger, deeper roster. Even now, it isn’t guys like Milan Michalek that seem to be the stars of this Canadian franchise. Instead, it’s the Mark Stones and the Andrew Hammonds that seem to be stealing the show in 2014-15.

Likewise, the numbers game seems to be favouring these players as well. Both are still quite young and yet it’s the young players that are in search of career and franchise milestones with the Sens.

Ottawa Senators Individual Milestones

It’s not always the first thing that comes to players minds – the fact that they are within reach of particular career milestones. That’s where we come in. We’re the people that watch as these players inch their way to career marks in every statistical category. Sure, it’s impressive when the players make their mark, but all it really does is start the clock at zero again – waiting for that next milestone to role along.

For the young Senators, it’s as simple as that. Right now, they are looking to make their mark on a franchise and a league pining for a Stanley Cup. Away from the rink, we’re carefully watching as each one approaches their next impressive career milestone.
