When Henrik Lundqvist isn’t backstopping the New York Rangers to wins during the NHL season, he’s still saving the day in his home country of Sweden. The veteran netminder recently tweeted out that he had donated 60 sets of equipment to players in Sweden recently, and was “thrilled” to do so. The NHL Players Association Goals & Dreams program has made the rounds already this offseason, surprising many youth players with similar donations.

The players are very proud of our Goals & Dreams program and look forward to getting the kids get on the ice. We are committed to expanding the game of hockey and this program is helping to achieve that goal. – Henrik Lundqvist
The New York Rangers helped the NHLPA in this endeavor, and the donation itself was made possible by Lundqvist, a Frolunda alumnus, through the NHLPA G&D program.
NHL players are always looking for opportunities to help make the game of hockey accessible for everyone. Young children on the Frolunda Hockey Club, who might not have had the chance to even lace up a pair of skates, will get the opportunity to try hockey for free with NHLPA Goals & Dreams’ donation of 60 full sets of equipment. I cannot think of a better type of effort to get behind, together with Henrik Lundqvist, as part of the Rangers Assist youth program’s visit in Sweden this week. – Mathieu Schneider
The NHL season is still over a month away, but Henrik Lundqvist is already flashing some leather, although this time, of the wallet variety.
