The Vancouver Canucks have lost captain Henrik Sedin to an upper-body injury suffered Saturday against the San Jose Sharks.
Sedin was injured early in the first period, recording just 3:36 of ice time in the game before it was announced that he would not return. After the game coach Willie Desjardins said that he does not expect Sedin to travel with the team for Monday’s game in Los Angeles.
His absence would be notable, as Sedin misses very few games. At one point he went eight straight seasons without missing a game.

Also injured in Saturday’s match was Chris Tanev, who left the match in the third period with an undisclosed injury.
There don’t appear to be any long-term injury concerns with Tanev. He is traveling with the team for Monday’s game, reports the Vancouver Province’s Ben Kuzma.
