The New York Islanders have invited 39-year-old winger Eric Boulton to training camp on a professional tryout contract (PTO), the team announced on Monday. He’ll have a chance at camp to earn a roster spot.
Boulton has picked up a handful of games with the Islanders over the last three seasons, playing a total of 48 games for the Isles over that span, scoring four goals and two assists. In each of those three seasons he was playing under a single season contract ranging from $540,000 to $650,000 (with a $125,000 performance bonus attached).
Boulton will join Matt Carkner, Parker Milner and Tyler Barnes on PTOs at camp, the team announced earlier on Monday.

Boulton is a veteran of 648 NHL games, split between the Buffalo Sabres, Atlanta Thrashers, New Jersey Devils and Islanders. He was originally a 9th round pick in the 1994 draft by the New York Rangers.
