The New York Islanders have signed Parker Wotherspoon to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Monday. The deal carries a $735,833 cap hit at the NHL level, reports General Fanager.
A 2015 4th round draft pick (112nd overall), he’s spent the last three years playing with the Tri-City Americans in the WHL. This year, as an alternate captain at just 18, he put up 11 goals and 56 points in 71 games.
Wotherspoon made his pro debut at the end of the season when he grabbed six games with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, recording an assist and 15 penalty minutes. He also found time in two of Bridgeport’s postseason games, posting an assist there as well.
At 18 years, 7 months and 10 days old, he was the youngest player to ever make his pro debut with Bridgeport.
