Carolina Hurricanes defenseman James Wisniewski is having a terrible start to the season with his new team. He made it just 47 seconds into his first game in a Hurricanes sweater before exiting the game with an injury.
The team announced on Friday that Wisniewski is going to miss the next six months with an ACL tear that will require surgery.
Wisniewski came to the ‘Canes during the offseason in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks that sent goaltender Anton Khudobin to California to back-up Frederik Andersen, joining his third team in the last two seasons, after the Ducks acquired Wis at the deadline from the Columbus Blue Jackets last season.
Things didn’t go great for Wisniewski in Anaheim, as he found himself scratched somewhat regularly and didn’t appear in any of Anaheim’s postseason games. In total, he played 69 regular season games, scoring eight goals and 26 assists.
