Jets Meeting With Alex Burmistrov About Return to NHL

Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has met with Alex Burmistrov’s agent, Mike Liut, to discuss the possibility of the forward’s return to the NHL, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.

The 23-year-old forward has spent the last two seasons playing for Ak-Bars Kazan in the KHL, after leaving the Jets for the 2013-14 season. Burmistrov scored 20 goals and 43 assists through 107 games in the KHL over the last two seasons.

Rumors of Burmistrov’s return were substantiated back in May when Flyers prospect Yevgeni Medvedev told Sports.ru that his Ak-Bars Kazan teammate was planning on a return.

Prior to leaving the NHL, Burmistrov played 120 NHL games, scoring 17 goals and 21 assists with 56 penalty minutes.

With seven UFA forwards this summer, the signing of Burmistrov would be a nice start toward getting the lineup shored up for Chevy.
