The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed winger Joffrey Lupul on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury, according to The Globe & Mail’s James Mirtle.
Lupul has already missed on game, being held out of Monday’s shutout of the Edmonton Oilers. At that point the undisclosed injury was referred to as a “nagging injury”.
The 32-year-old has been often injured in his career, not coming within 13 games of a full season since the 2008-09 season.
This season Lupul has posted eight goals and three assists through 23 games. The team has not offered a timeline on his expected return.
In a related move on Tuesday the team recalled veteran Rich Clune from the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. It’s Clune’s second recall of the season. He played two games on his last stint, averaging 8:32 of ice time and garnering no points.
