We’re just one day into camp and the Islanders have made a major cut from training camp already. Top prospect Joshua Ho-Sang has been sent back to the OHL after reportedly showing up late for the first day of camp.
Ho-Sang has been the topic of frequent discussions about behavior issues that may have been overblown, but today’s news is a big statement by the organization. Newsday’s Arthur Staple, who reported the Ho-Sang news, said that a couple “Isles folks” said that Ho-Sang’s behavior has been “exemplary” throughout development camp in July and rookie camp that immediately preceded training camp.
Joshua Ho-Sang was late for the first day of #Isles training camp. He's been sent back to Niagara of the OHL. Camp over for him.

Staple also reports that the Islanders had Ho-Sang starting camp on a line with John Tavares and Anders Lee, showing just how high the organization is on him and what kind of opportunity the team was willing to give him. It also shows that the team likely wasn’t taking the decision lightly.
Ho-Sang will return to the Niagara IceDogs where he scored 14 goals and 48 assists in 49 games last season.
