The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Barrie Colts forward Justin Scott to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Scott inks the deal as an un-drafted free agent.
The 20-year-old center has spent the last four seasons with the Colts. Serving as an alternate captain this year, he scored 28 goals and a career-high 65 points in 68 games.
He also set a career-high mark with a team-leading plus-32 rating.
He’s still in play during the OHL postseason after the Colts swept the North Bay Battalion in the second round. They’re now set to face the Niagara IceDogs in the third round series, scheduled to open Thursday, April 21.
Scott has been very effective in the postseason, putting up 14 goals and a pair of assists with a plus-16 rating in 11 games. While they swept through the second round, there was a difficult opening round for the Colts, making his plus/minus impressive. The opening-round series against the Mississauga Steelheads went the full seven games.
The deal will commence in the 2016-17 season.
