Since his contract with the Philadelphia Flyers expired at the end of the 2014-15 season, Ray Emery has had a tough time finding a consistent gig. He took a PTO with the Tampa Bay Lightning and was ultimately released despite an injury to Andrei Vasilevskiy.
After that he took a tryout with the Los Angeles Kings’ AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign. He was with the team up until Friday night, when the team announced they were releasing 33-year-old goaltender from his tryout.
Emery has been given three games with the Reign, going 1-1-1 with a .878 save percentage and a 3.30 goals against average.
The team simultaneously announced that they’ve recalled goaltender Michael Houser from the ECHL’s Manchester Monarchs.
Last season was Emery’s second season with the Flyers, posting a .894 save percentage through 31 games played. The season before he found his way into 28 games with a .903 save percentage.
Emery’s played 287 NHL games in his career with a .906 save percentage.
