Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray told TSN on Monday that the team is shutting down center Kyle Turris. He’ll be out of the lineup “indefinitely” while he recovers from a high ankle sprain.
With no timetable presented by Murray, it’s not clear if Turris would be available again if the Senators should go on a run like they did last year and make the postseason. At this point Turris says that they aren’t ruling anything out, including a return this season.
Turris played in Saturday’s game, but he’s seen significantly less ice time in his last three contests than his season average of 19:42. He didn’t cross 15 minutes in any of those contests.
Turris confirms the ankle injury occurred vs NYI in December, but he re-injured it in game at SJ in January.

Turris has posted 13 goals and 30 points through 57 games this season. That’s a significantly slower scoring pace for the 26-year-old than his career-high 64 points last season. He’s played 25 games since suffering the initial injury and hasn’t been himself in those games. That surely accounts for a big portion of the dip in his scoring.

Turris doesn't know if he will come back this season. Not ruling anything out at this point.
