Though the San Jose Sharks have not issued any comment other than that he’s “being evaluated,” it appears that center Logan Couture was injured during Thursday’s practice at the Prudential Center, home of the New Jersey Devils.
Couture went down during a drill and had to be helped off the ice by teammates, according to CSN Bay Area’s Kevin Kurz.
Adding to that, the Mercury News’ Curtis Pashelka noted that Couture “left the Prudential Center on crutches wearing a protective boot on his right foot and ankle.” Couture declined to comment on the situation.

Thus far Couture has amassed just one assist and seven shots through three games, but losing their second line center would be a big blow to the 3-0-0 Sharks, who, when healthy, have solid depth, but can see that depth dry up quickly when third line guys like Tomas Hertl have to jump up to center the team’s second line.
The Sharks are set to face the Devils at Prudential Center on Friday.
UPDATE:
Kevin Kurz has posted video of Couture being helped to the bench. You can’t diagnose an injury from a video, but it doesn’t look good.
