The Los Angeles Kings have signed defenseman Brayden McNabb to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Saturday. cWhile the team didn’t announce financial details, multiple sources report the deal carries a $1.7 million cap hit.
That salary represents a significant raise for the 6-foot-4 defender. He played last season on the second year of a two-year, $650,000 AAV deal ($675,000 actual cash).
McNabb came to the Kings at the 2014 trade deadline in a deal that sent Hudson Fasching and Nicolas Deslauriers to the Buffalo Sabres. The Kings also grabbed two 2nd round draft picks and forward Jonathan Parker in that deal.
Very excited to be back with the @LAKings for 2 more years! #letsgo

The Saskatchewan native played 81 games with the Kings this season, posting a 2.7% score-adjusted CF%Rel, along with two goals and 12 assists. Those 14 points were a dip from the 24 he posted in 10 fewer games the year before, but his underlying numbers have been strong since coming to L.A., making him an important depth piece for the team.
