As the series shifts to Montreal for games three and four the Bruins versus Canadiens tilt has taken on many interesting sub-plots.Firstly Saturday Morning Bruins player Matt Hunwick had to be rushed by ambulance from their practice facility to have his spleen removed. This was in most likelihood caused by damage inflicted by a hit late in game one from Canadiens player Mike Komisarek. With Hunwick recovering in hospital Bruins forward Marc Savard was amazing putting up two goals and two assists to power the Bruins to a 5-1 romp over the seemingly over powered and over matched Habs. Then to stir the pot and make this round even more interesting late in game two Bruins super sophomore Milan Lucic was assessed a match penalty for a reckless blow to the head of Canadiens forward Maxim Lapierre.Bruins coach Claude Julien was adamant that it was not Lucic’s stick which made contact with Lapierre’s face but his glove. The NHL’s Senior Vice President Colin Campbell stated “It’s unclear whether Lucic’s glove or stick makes contact with Lapierre. What is clear is that he delivered a reckless forceful blow to the head of his opponent.”Lucic received a one game suspension which will be served immediately meaning he will not suit up for Monday night’s game three in Montreal. If the Bruins are able to win the pivotal game three this would definitely put the Canadiens in the unenviable position of having to win the remaining four games of the best of seven. With Jaroslav Halak replacing Carey Price for the third period of game 2 after surrendering all 5 Bruin goals it is also interesting to wonder if this is the last we will see of Price. While he hasn’t been particularly bad in the Habs net he has also not given them the kind of goaltending needed to steal a game either.Stay tuned hockey fans as this series has been nothing short of incredible regardless of how it appears on the scoreboard.
