The Chicago Blackhawks have seen some solid depth contributions and clutch goals from Jonathan Toews — who tied a franchise record already with three overtime goals this season — and it’s coming at a good time, as the team will be without Marian Hossa through the holiday break. He is dealing with an upper-body injury.
Hossa was a surprising late scratch in Sunday’s game and has been ruled out of Tuesday’s game against the Dallas Stars, the team announced Monday. The earliest he will be back is Sunday’s game against Carolina, when the team returns from the holiday break.
Coach Joel Quennville told Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun Times, “Hopefully he can play when we get back after Christmas. I don’t think it’s serious at all.”
Hossa has five goals and 11 assists through 31 games this season.
