Latest Rumors:
- The Buffalo Sabres have talked to pending UFA Jamie McGinn about a new contract.
“We’ve asked what their thoughts are on term and on money. We’ve given them our thoughts on term. So if we can do something that suits both parties, we will try.”
- The Flames are starting to take calls on Jiri Hudler.
The Flames have had some conversations about extending Hudler’s contract, but it appears they are leaning towards trading him by the Feb. 29 trade deadline, according to multiple reports.
- With the team in the playoff race, the Carolina Hurricanes haven’t asked Eric Staal to waive his no-trade-clause.
Several teams are waiting to see what the Hurricanes decide to do with Staal. Despite inching closer to a playoff spot, the Hurricanes could still trade Staal by the Feb. 29 trade deadline.
- The Winnipeg Jets have been scouting the New York Rangers lately, leading to speculation of a deal between the two teams.
Surely the Jets would be willing to take some combination of J.T. Miller, Pavel Buchnevich, a first-rounder and Dylan McIlrath off Broadway in return for the high-end rental property.
- Despite teams being turned off by his actions, there is still plenty of interest in Tampa Bay’s Jonathan Drouin.
“Right now Jonathan Drouin is at home, north of Montreal, awaiting a trade. The teams that we believe have been interested in Jonathan Drouin – St. Louis, the New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, amongst others – appear to continue to be interested. There is some dialogue going on between Steve Yzerman (and teams).
