Utah Hockey Club, formerly known as the Arizona Coyotes, began its life as the original Winnipeg Jets of the World Hockey Association (WHA) and started playing in the 1972-73 season. Prior to the 1996-97 season, the team relocated to Arizona and became the Phoenix Coyotes, although they changed their location name from Phoenix to Arizona for the 2014-15 season.
