The Edmonton Oilers have signed 31-year-old goaltender Jonas Gustavsson to a one-year, $800,000 contract, according to Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.
Gustavsson played 24 games for the Bruins last season, posting a sub-optimal .908 all-situation save percentage. Career-wide he carries a .902 save percentage.
It’s an odd deal with some of the names that are still out there on the market. He’s basically been a replacement-level goaltender throughout his career, and with the money the team is spending to round the rebuilding corner, more of a splash may have been expected.

The plan would appear to be to have Cam Talbot continue starting with Laurent Brossoit toiling in the AHL as he team’s netminder in waiting.
