Penn State Hockey Has a New Home

It’s official! Penn State has broke ground on the new Pegula Ice Arena, the future home of Penn State hockey. Hockey becomes a varsity sport at Penn State beginning the 2012-13 season. They will be an independent. In 2013-14, they will join Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Ohio State to form the Big Ten Hockey Conference.

Coach Guy Gadowsky is planning on keeping 15 players from their current club team to play for Penn State in their first season as a varsity sport after finishing their last club season third in the nation with a 29-4-1 record. Here is a quick list of Penn State’s hockey history.

Terrible headline — they’ll have a new home when arena is built. All they have now is a hole in the ground.
