Highlight of the Year: Viktor Arvidsson made his NHL debut in a 3-0 win against the Buffalo Sabres on March 21. Playing on the top line with Mike Ribeiro and Gabriel Bourque, Arvidsson was all over the ice and was awarded the third star of the game.
Strengths: Some rookies are a little shy when playing in their first few NHL games but not Arvidsson. The 22-year-old is a speedy skater not afraid to shoot the puck. In his first two games of the season, he totaled 6 shots.
Weaknesses: Obviously, Arvidsson is undersized. He is not going to be a physical player in the NHL, but his peskiness and high level skating abilities makes up for it.
What to Expect Next Season: At development camp last year, Arvidsson hoped he could make the team immediately after being drafted in June. It did not happen, but after playing six solid games for Nashville, Arvidsson is heading towards the right direction. Him making the team will be based solely on what general manager David Poile chooses to do this summer with the Predators’ free agent forwards.
