The Nashville Predators have recalled goaltender Marek Mazanec of the Milwaukee Admirals to the NHL club, the team announced Monday.
Nashville used an emergency recall to bring up Mazanec, with Elliotte Friedman reporting that the recall is needed due to an injury to Carter Hutton.
The 24-year-old Mazanec has played five games with Milwaukee in the American League this season, going 2-2-1 with a .900 save percentage. He’s played 27 NHL games in his career, with 25 of those coming in the tumultuous 2013-14 season when Pekka Rinne was out most of the year and the Predators couldn’t find a good solution for their porous net.
For his part, Hutton has played in two games this year, posting a .899 save percentage.
Additionally, the team has placed veteran forward Eric Nystrom on injured reserve with an upper body injury that has kept him out since being injured in a game on Halloween.
