The New York Rangers have agreed to terms on an entry-level contract with free agent forward Adam Chapie, the team announced Friday. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Through 39 games in his senior season with UMASS Lowell, the 24-year-old put up 16 goals and 35 points, a personal best in his collegiate career. he ranked second on the team in goals and shots on goal (102).
He was a consistent contributor in his collegiate career, putting up at least 12 goals in each of his last three years. He also helped the River Hawks advance to the Frozen Four during his freshman season when the team was Hockey East’s regular season champions and winners of the Hockey East Tournament.
The contract will start in the 2016-17 season. Chapie will finish out this season on an amateur tryout (ATO) with the Hartford Wolf Pack.
