Report: Preds Place Steve Moses on Unconditional Waivers

One year after finishing seventh in KHL scoring — posting 36 goals and 21 assists in 60 games — Steve Moses signed a one-year deal with the Nashville Predators.

But that transition hasn’t gone as planned. The Predators placed Moses on unconditional waivers on Thursday, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

It appears that the placement is with the intention of terminating his contract and Moses has agreed to the termination in order to return to the KHL. Friedman reports that a move back to the KHL may have been in the works for a little while, noting that SKA Saint Petersburg acquired his KHL rights about a week ago.

The 26-year-old winger hasn’t had a chance to prove his worth in the NHL this season, instead playing 16 games for the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL, where he’s scored two goals and six assists, coming in tied for seventh in points on the team.

Moses is an undrafted forward, he played four years of college hockey for the University of New Hampshire, then going pro at the end of his senior season, playing eight games with the AHL’s Connecticut Whale.

From there he took a contract in the Finnish Elite League with Jokerit and stuck with them for three years, including last year when they made the jump to the KHL. With the Predators not bringing him up, it sounds like opportunity may be knocking elsewhere.
