Latest Rumors:
- The Los Angeles Kings continue to look for a defensemen to fill the void of Matt Greene. The expectation is that it will be the priority for the team come the trade deadline.
“The Los Angeles Kings are going for it, and they’ll, at the very least, add a defenseman for their second pairing.”
- The Winnipeg Jets don’t appeared to be concerned about the trade deadline, and all the question marks surrounding the roster.
“”Not even a little bit,” Maurice told the Winnipeg Free Press. “I’ve never liked to see guys get traded. You’ve got to go with what you got and I’m not a big fan of moving guys out unless it clearly doesn’t fit. It’s my job to get more out of them.” “
- One of the biggest reasons for the stagnant trade market is the continuing collapse of the Canadian dollar. If it doesn’t improve, moves could be impacted for quite some time.
“With seven Canadian teams accounting for over one-third of the league’s revenue, it has an effect upon the salary cap. Indeed, over the past two years, salary-cap projections have fallen short.”
- The San Jose Sharks are among a handful of teams interested in bringing in Mike Richards when everything gets sorted out.
“Richards is now an unrestricted free agent, and while a number of teams are interested in him, they are waiting for the court process to play itself out.”
