The Buffalo Sabres have recalled 22-year-old goaltender Linus Ullmark from the Rochester Americans of the AHL, the team announced on Friday.
The goaltending situation has been fluid in Buffalo, with Robin Lehner out six to ten weeks after getting injured in the first game of the season. Since that point, Chad Johnson has grabbed every start, posting a .906 all situation save percentage through five starts and six games.
Nathan Lieuwen has served as the team’s back up to Johnson so far and management may have more confidence in the young Ullmark, who was a 6th round draft pick in 2012.
Ullmark has been given three of the Amerks’ six games this season, putting up a .932 save percentage. With the recall there’s a good chance that we see Ullmark make his NHL debut in the near future.
