As the Buffalo Sabres prospect development camp came to a close, general manager Tim Murray spoke for what could likely be the last time until training camp begins in the fall. One of the biggest questions that was asked was if he and the team was still interested in bringing in free agent defenseman Johnny Oduya.
“I haven’t moved on,” Murray said in regards to his pursuit of the veteran blueliner. “He hasn’t signed anywhere yet, so I haven’t moved on.”
The 33-year old isn’t the only option for the Sabres right now, Murray stated. Even with the recent signing of Carlo Colaiacovo, he said that the team is still interested in acquiring a left-shot defenseman should Oduya not come to fruition.
“One way or the other,” he said when it came to acquiring someone. “We’ve looked at everybody that we feel are going to need waivers; we’re still talking trades with teams; we’re still talking about a couple guys that are still out there.”
He then made sure to mention that the team isn’t in a major hurry to bring another player in, and is willing to wait until the time training camp opens to potentially bring another NHL roster player into the organization.
