The Columbus Blue Jackets have had two seasons of little but bad news. That continued on Tuesday night when the team lost starting goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky to a lower-body injury.
It isn’t clear when the injury happened, but players called the trainer to Bobrovsky with just over five minutes left in Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings, after which he left the game. Columbus was up 2-1 at that point and had Curtis McElhinney come onto the ice in relief. He allowed a late goal that sent the game to overtime and lead to an eventual Blue Jackets loss.
That situation led coach John Tortorella to say in the post-game press conference, “I am totally embarrassed by the way we played.”
Bobrovsky does not have a timeline for return as of Wednesday afternoon, with the Columbus Post-Dispatch’s Aaron Portzline reporting that Bobrovsky will undergo more tests Wednesday.
John Tortorella says Sergei Bobrovsky will be re-evaluated this afternoon, mentions he is "day-to-day" at this time. #CBJ

In the meantime, the team has recalled goaltender Joonas Korpisalo from the AHL on an emergency basis. The 21-year-old Finnish netminder has been solid in the American League this year. Korpisalo is 5-4-2 with two shutouts and a .928 save percentage so far this season.
Korpisalo was a 3rd round pick (62nd overall) by the Blue Jackets in 2012.
