The St. Blues announced today that they’ve signed 22-year old defenseman Joel Edmundson to a two-year contract extension. The team made the announcement via their official Twitter account.

At 6-foot-4 and roughly 208-pounds, Edmundson brings a ton of physicality and stout defensive play to the St. Louis blue line. Originally drafted in the second round (46th overall) of the 2011 draft, Edmundson saw his first NHL action this season and remained a constant with the Blues, playing in 66 games.
Known for his physical play, Edmundson has recorded 162 hits this season. He has one goal and eight points in that span.
Over the past three seasons, Edmundson spent his playing time in the AHL with the Blues’ affiliate, the Chicago Wolves. He played 102 total games at the AHL level and scored eight goals and 12 total points.
