Steen was injured on Feb. 20 when the Blues faced the Arizona Coyotes. He left the game with an upper-body injury. Prior to leaving the game, he had recorded a goal and assist in just two-minutes and 13-seconds of ice time. The team announced that Steen would be placed on injured-reserve the following day and expected to be re-evaluated in four weeks.
The injury is believed to be shoulder related. Video of the play is below.
Steen has been practicing but was still experiencing issues when shooting as recent as last week. However, according to Blues’ head coach Ken Hitchcock, he has looked good and after taking contact for the first time today, he’s ready to go when the Blues face Colorado tomorrow night at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
Despite his five-week absence, he still remains St. Louis’ second-leading scorer with 17 goals and 47 total points in 61 games. The Blues are 8-2-0 in their last 10 and battling the Dallas Stars for first place in the Central Division.
