Video: Steve Mason Allows 100-Foot Goal

This can’t happen.

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Steve Mason was having a very solid game — even if he didn’t see much rubber in the first period. He made some key saves and helped keep the Flyers in the game. They were pushing hard, putting 19 shots on net in the first. That’s more than they accumulated in all of Game 1.

Then Steve Mason allowed a 100-foot goal. It was shot from the far end of the ice and was deflected at center ice by Jason Chimera.

It’s one of the worst postseason goals in recent memory.

However, Mason did make an impressive save just before that, which you get a brief glimpse of in the video (and you can get a better look at in the tweet below). So… there’s that.
