Detroit Red Wings forward Teemu Pulkkinen will miss four-to-six months after undergoing shoulder surgery in June, according to MLive.com’s Ansar Khan.
Pulkkinen went under the knife in early June, back in Finland. Four-to-six months is a time frame that ranges from simply hampering his offseason training regimen to putting his recovery deep into the opening of the 2016-17 campaign.
The 5-foot-11 Finn scored six goals and 12 points through 36 games last season. That comes just one year after he led the AHL in scoring with 34 goals, even though he played just 46 games for Grand Rapids that season.
Pulkkinen is currently a restricted free agent in need of a new contract.
Khan also reports that Red Wings defenseman Alexey Marchenko had a small procedure on his wrist, but should be ready to go before the opening of the 2016-17 season. He was also a restricted free agent, but but has signed a two-year deal with an AAV of $1.45 million.
