The Toronto Maple Leafs have made a deal with the Edmonton Oilers that brings Oiler defenseman Martin Marincin to Toronto and sends forward prospect Brad Ross and the 107th pick in the draft back to Edmonton.

In limited time over the last two seasons Marincin posted positive relative possession numbers. At 23, he’s got a lot of potential. He’s a good fit for a Maple Leafs team that can afford to be patient over the next season, while the Oilers are acquiring defensemen and are in win now mode after drafting Connor McDavid and making quite a few moves over the course of the last few days.
For their part the Oilers grabbed a draft pick that they would use to bring defenseman Eric Gryba to Edmonton from the Ottawa Senators.
