Dallas Stars coach Lindy Ruff has confirmed that Tyler Seguin will not play in Game 1 against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.
Ruff said that Seguin is “real close” and will “definitely” play in Game 2.
Seguin has been sidelined since March 17 with a cut Achilles that he shared on Twitter for some horrible reason.
Seguin stayed on the ice after morning skate to skate with Travis Moen, Jamie Oleksiak, Jordie Benn and Patrik Nemeth, who are the team’s healthy scratches in the first match.
His absence will be a boon for the Wild who are going to be without Zach Parise, Thomas Vanek and Erik Haula in Game 1. Parise and Vanek are expected to miss all of the series, though nothing has been confirmed for either player. They are not traveling with the team for the first two games of the series.
Seguin had 33 goals and 73 points this season.
