Dallas Stars coach Lindy Ruff announced Thursday that forward Tyler Seguin will again sit out as the Stars welcome the Wild back to Dallas for Game 5, reports Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.
Seguin missed a month of play after suffering a 15 percent laceration of his Achilles tendon on March 17. He returned for Game 2 of the opening round playoff series, but immediately exited the lineup after he “irritated something” in his return. The injury is not related to his Achilles, according to the team prior to Game 3.
There’s little information on how he’s doing, but he hadn’t skated at all prior to Wednesday’s Game 4 match.
With questions about his health, even if he was healthy, it may make sense to keep him sidelined at this point. The Stars have the Wild on the ropes with a 3-1 series lead and Game 5 taking place back in Texas. They are better off working toward full health with Seguin rather than getting him in to finish off a Wild team that they’re handling well in Seguin’s absence.
Seguin scored 33 goals and 73 points through 72 games this season.
