The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed goalie Richard Bachman and forward Mike Zalewski to one-year, two-way contracts, according to the team. Bachman’s new contract will kick in following the expiration of his current deal next offseason.

Bachman, 28, is entering the final year of his current two-year deal. His NHL salary will jump from $575,000 to $650,000 in 2017-18. His AHL salary in 2017-18 will be $450,000.
The 2006 fourth-round draft pick posted a 17-12-5 record with the AHL’s Utica Comets last season, logging a 2.75 goals against average and .900 save percentage in the process. He made one appearance with the Canucks last season. He earned a win and allow three goals on 31 shots.
Richard Bachman has appeared in 43 games since turning pro in 2009. He has 18-14-2 record with a 2.93 goals against average and .904 save percentage.
Following the announcement of the contract extension, Bachman shared his thoughts on returning to the organization for the 2017-18 season.
“I am thrilled to add another year with the Canucks organization,” Bachman said. “There are no better fans to play for, and I cannot wait to get the season started.”
Mike Zalewski
Zalewski, 23, is fresh off of his entry-level contract. He was a restricted free agent prior to being re-signed.
The undrafted college free agent has appeared in five NHL games since turning pro in 2014. He has tallied a pair of assists. In 113 AHL games, Zalewski has netted 19 goals and has 45 points.
He played college hockey at RPI in the NCAA for two seasons, tallying 47 points in 71 games.
Mike Zalewski talked about the signing on Thursday.
“I’m excited to be returning for another year with the Canucks organization,” Zalewski said. “I have spent my first two professional seasons in Utica and it has been a tremendous place for me to grow as a player. I want to keep moving forward and I am happy to have that opportunity with Vancouver.”
