The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed forward Tyler Motte to a two-year contract extension with an AAV of $1.225 million.
Motte, 25, was an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career, but will be staying in Vancouver through 2021-22.
A winger who can also play centre, Motte is known as an excellent penalty-killer and depth player. The Canucks were 16th in the NHL with an 80.47 PK% in 2019-20.
Originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks 121st overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Motte has recorded 22 goals and 16 assists for 38 points in 187 games between the Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Canucks. He recorded four goals and four assists for eight points in the 2019-20 regular season and four goals and one assist in 17 games during the Canucks’ surprising playoff run this summer.
