Max Domi played his first game at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre on Monday, home of the team his dad, Tie Domi, spent 12 seasons playing for.
Domi, after spending the morning being a popular guy with the press inside the locker room, was to lead the team onto the ice for warm-ups. And he did, only the rest of the team didn’t bother following him out onto the ice.
It’s not an unfamiliar prank, having the rookie skate out a little before the rest of the team and have to take a lap by himself. But the ‘Yotes left Domi out there for a really long time. He makes a few laps and gives a quick, pleading look down the hallway as he starts to shoot pucks by himself with a smile on.
Before you start feeling defensive and sorry for him, he also scored the first goal of the game and reclaimed the rookie scoring lead. He’s going to be just fine.
