Wild Signs Adam Gilmour to ELC

The Minnesota Wild have signed 2012 4th round draft pick (98th overall) Adam Gilmour to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Monday.

Gilmour will forgo his senior season at Boston College to join the organization on a contract that will start in the 2016-17 season.

Gilmour’s season just wrapped up on Thursday when the Eagles were defeated in the first game of the Frozen Four against the No. 1 ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats.

He had a solid three-year run with the Eagles. He’s a solid two-way player, with smarts in a supporting role. He finished his sophomore season as the team’s second leading scorer with 27 points in 38 games, behind only fellow Wild prospect Alex Tuch.

In his junior season he saw a significant role change that went the opposite direction of most players as they gain seniority with the team. He saw his offensive duties decrease with the addition of some top freshman talent like Colin White and Miles Wood, Alex Tuch’s late-season rise, and other players surpassing him in a down offensive year.

He wound up finishing the season on the team’s third line with 26 points in 41 games, which included a career-high 12 goals. Additionally, he ranked second on the team with four game-winning goals.

His two-way abilities are likely what will help him stake his claim on a roster spot with the Iowa Wild next season.
