Cody Bass (born January 7, 1987) is a former Canadian ice hockey player, having played his final year in the NHL with the Nashville Predators during the 2016-2017 season. Drafted 95th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Bass made the full-time job to the pros for the 2007-08 season, splitting time with Ottawa and their minor-league affiliate Binghamton Senators. He appeared in 24 games during his rookie season, recording two goals and two assists, and adding one goal in four postseason games. Bass remained with the Senators organization for six year but failed to hold down a full-time job in an enforcer role.
Bass signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the 2011-12 season as a free agent, leaving Ottawa after mixed results and a series of unfortunate injuries. Unfortunately, the trend continued as he struggled to get called up to the NHL, and his 2012-13 season was cut short to 18 games in the American Hockey League (AHL). He signed with the Norfolk Admirals in 2014, the AHL farm club of the Chicago Blackhawks, registering six goals and 14 points in 61 games. He remained relatively healthy throughout the year and even picked up an assist during the AHL playoffs.
His career hit a snag following his signed with the Predators, as he was reduced to 26 NHL games in three seasons. He served as the Milwaukee Admirals assistant captain in two of those years, but his production dropped off steadily while his combat skills were also on the decline. Bass appeared in one final season with the Colorado Eagles, playing in 35 games and recording six points in 35 games before bringing his hockey career to an end.
