Murray Baron (born June 1, 1967) is a former Canadian ice hockey player, having played his final year in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues during the 2003-2004 season. Drafted 167th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft, Baron committed to the University of North Dakota, playing for the collegiate team for three seasons before making the jump to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL) during the 1988-89 season. The following two seasons, he split time between Hershey and Philadelphia, playing in 67 games during the 1990-91 season, and registering eight goals and eight assists. Despite posting career-highs in goals and points that year, Baron was traded to the Blues along with Ron Sutter for Rod Brind’Amour and Dan Quinn.

On the Blues blue line, Baron brought a physical edge and punishing style that aided the team into the postseason for five consecutive years. While his scoring touch was not on the level it was with the Flyers, his defensive side of the game played a big part in the Blues’ success. During the 1996-97 season, he was dealt twice, first to the Montreal Canadiens in a five-player deal, and then six months later he was sent to the Arizona Coyotes. He appeared in 45 games with the Coyotes during the 1997-98 season before moving on to the Vancouver Canucks the following year.

Baron played in five seasons with the Canucks, making the playoffs in the final three years with the team and posting a career-high four points in 14 post-season games in 2003. He returned to St. Louis for one final season, playing in 80 games but ultimately falling in five games in the first round of the playoffs. In 15 seasons, Baron registered 129 points in 988 games, adding 1,309 penalty minutes and a career minus-25 rating.
